I want the world to know how God protected, guided and blessed me in a scary time in my life. As I was nearing the end of my pregnancy I was scared of not knowing when I was in labor.  Everyone told me I would just know, but I was just not convinced.  So every night I would pray for God to show me I was in labor and to help me know if I needed to go to the hospital.  I was 37 weeks pregnant and I started to have severe upper back pain.  I thought it was related to working so I tried to just relax and go to bed early, in hopes the pain would go away.  But I was unable to sleep, so I called the doctor and she instructed me to come in and let them run some tests.  All the way to the hospital I was praying for Gods protection and comfort.  I knew God would not let me go through anything I could not handle.

At the hospital they began taking blood and gave me pain medication to ease the pain in my back.  The nurse told me, “Did you know you were having contractions”?  I said, “I had no idea”.  The pain medication they gave me took away my back pain but it did not stop my contractions.  The nurse then knew something was going on.  That is when my doctor came in and told me the results of the blood tests.  She informed me of how my platelets were continuing to drop and this was a sign on the HELLP Syndrome.  This syndrome is where the mother’s body is allergic to the baby and her liver begins to shut down.  The only cure for this is to deliver the baby immediately.  With my platelet count continuing to drop there was no time to waste.  I was going to have an emergency c-section and be put to sleep.  The doctors couldn’t risk giving me a spinal block because of my low platelet count.  This meant my husband would not be in the delivery room with me.  I would be all alone.  But I knew God was with me and would not let me go through anything I could not handle.  He had also blessed me with the knowledge to know something was wrong and to get medical attention.  I knew He would watch over and protect me while in the operating room.  God also blessed me with Godly people that were praying for me.

Shortly after being wheeled to the surgery room, our little girl was born and taken to the nursery to meet her Daddy, extended family and friends.  After 3 hours of surgery I finally got to meet the precious life God had blessed me with.  She was so worth it!  I was put on medication to help my liver recover and the doctor continued to do tests to ensure I was healing.  My platelets had come back up, but my blood count continued to drop.  The doctor informed me I would need a blood transfusion and CT scan to see what was going on inside my abdomen.  The CT scan showed I had a hematoma the size of a grapefruit and would need to have surgery to remove it as soon as possible.  The bleeding internally came as a huge shock and it took me and my husband a little time to digest it.  In the meantime, God blessed us with Godly people that arrived to pray over me and continued to pray while I was in surgery.  Before leaving for surgery I had a calmness come over me knowing that God was watching over and protecting me.  After three hours of surgery, the doctors were able to remove the hematoma and I was on track to recovery.

Looking back at everything I think about how my God is so incredible.  I have never experienced God on this level and my relationship with Him has deepened.  It has taught me to completely trust Him with every detail of my life; I know He will take care of me.  The will of God will never take you where His Grace will not protect you!!!!
