Today I went running on some pretty intense trails through the woods with some of my friends. I'm training for a half marathon and my friend is training for a marathon, so we decided to go off-roading(much more fun then running on the road)! When we started running I was moving along pretty quickly in front of the pack, just wanting to stretch my legs, and out of no where pops up a root and down I go. I completely busted it! This made me think about life...

We move along from place to place and have such busy schedules...

We want everything right here, right now...

We take no time to pay attention to the important things in life...

We leave behind the people that we love...

and then...

we crash...

I feel so convicted about living such a hectic and busy life. I want to run through life so quickly, have my dreams for the future come true NOW!  I don't feel like God wants me to live this way. I think of Jesus and how walked from place to place. He wasn't in any hurry.

Mary and Martha sent word to Jesus that Lazarus was sick...

"When he heard this, Jesus said, "This sickness will not end in death. No, it is for God's glory so that God's Son may be glorified through it." Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. yet when he heard that Lazarus was sick, he stayed where he was two more days. "

Jesus didn't hurry back! He stayed 2 more days. He knew that He didn't have to rush for God to be glorified. God was actually more glorified by Him staying back two more days and then bringing Lazarus back from the dead.

So...I need to slow down...allow God to be glorified through my life...and not crash an burn!

Thankfully, I had Jewel running behind me to give me a hand and pull me up!

If one falls down,
his friend can help him up.
But pity the man who falls
and has no one to help him up!
(Ecclesiastes 4:10)

God is so good to give us friends in our lives to get us back on track, even when we bust it big time!

And, I'm even more thankful that He's always faithful to pull us back on the trail, dust us off, and encourage us to keep running...just a bit slower this time...He has everything under His sovereign hand...no hurry! :)

Much Love,
Amanda
