Do you know how a muscle is activated? Well in very simple terms, a nerve impulse is sent to the muscle fiber, causing it to contract. Unless stimulated by the nerve, the muscle cannot be activated. If the muscle is not activated, there is no movement.

Did you know that there are people with neurological disorders whose ‘muscles’ are fine per se, but the conduction of the nerve is impaired and therefore does not stimulate the muscle or generate a contraction? (Skeletal) muscles will not move unless the nerve specifically tells it to. This is the grand design of our Creator.

~Prayer is the nerve which moves the muscle of God~

God is not limited to any degree, by anything, at any time. But if we don’t ask, don’t search, and don’t plead for our requests, how will we know He specifically worked based on our petitions? How will we understand and how will others understand the personal relationship that exists. The relationship of Father and child because of the Son is the reason that prayer works. The relationship of nerve impulse to muscle fiber is the reason that a muscle contracts.

God has given much power to us, to be used for His glory. You and I can lift an empty glass or a heavy suitcase; our arm extends and our fingers prepare for the grasp. Different degrees of muscle contraction and different muscles are needed for these activities, but both require the activation of the nerve (which originates from the brain; the main headquarters of all movement).

Can you see the similarity with our prayer life? Can you see how the ABILITY for movement is there, but Jesus, (the MUSCLE) is waiting for the nerve to move it? Yes He can do whatever He pleases even if we don’t pray; He is God and will never be dependent on us for anything. BUT, how many miracles do we forfeit by not praying?

He wants to move, He wants His power to be known, He wants others to see His Mighty Hand, and He wants us to believe He WILL!

What if His redeemed stood firm on His truth and promises, unwilling to relent until He moved…until the entire world ‘saw’ the ‘impossible’ done? What a witnessing tool of undeniable proportions!!!

For Today: God has given you muscles so that you can function against gravity and accomplish many tasks. Your nerves are one of the ways your muscles are ‘instructed’ to fire. His amazing and complex design has enabled this to be so, but we unfortunately take it for granted most of the time. He has also offered us something perhaps even more amazing yet I believe we understand it even less than we do the neurological aspects of what goes into our movements. I am certain we underestimate the privilege of prayer and what can be accomplished through it.

Friend, have you fully surrendered your life to Jesus Christ? Do you know/are you sure that your sins have been forgiven by the shedding of His holy blood? I hope you can answer yes to those two questions; the correct answer is vital for an abundant prayer life. What can you pray today that is according to His will? What can you ask Him to do through you so that the lost can ‘see’ Him and believe? Go ahead and ask Him; boldly and with the desire for Him to be glorified. James 4:2b-3 tells us, You have not because you ask not. You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may consume it upon your lusts. So go ahead and ask! Be the nerve that moves the muscle of God; His muscles do not grow weary and know no limitations.
