The Evidence of God
By Maria Hartman
Have you ever considered the Zebra?
It is an incredible animal which points directly to a Creator who has designed all living things.
The zebra has a coat that is more distinctive than that of any other animal. Each and every zebra’s stripe pattern is completely different and unique; just like you and I have completely different finger prints, the zebra has an individual pattern that is unlike any other.
Zebras are social animals and run in packs. They are rarely alone, but keep in close proximity to their ‘neighbors’ at all times. A zebra is much like the horse in many ways. When a zebra gives birth, it is always to just one foal. However, totally unlike the horse, the mother zebra takes her foal away immediately after birth. Any ideas why?
The mother and baby are isolated for at least a 24 hour period so that the baby can visually study and memorize the mother’s stripe pattern. How else would the baby recognize the mother amidst sometimes hundreds and even thousands of other zebras? When this has occurred, the mother and foal move back into the herd. The foal now can spot his own mother as if she was the only one present, and the mother can move off from the foal for periods of time knowing that he will be able to easily spot her.
Isn’t that incredible? Isn’t God amazing? An animal so similar to the horse is also nothing like the horse. That is because neither evolved from the other but both were designed uniquely by a Mighty and Sovereign Creator.
Can you see God’s hand in the life of the zebra? What does this tell you about who He is? Who will you share it with today?
