What happens at the cross?....It is the place of forgiveness for sinners.

But is it a place that is meant for a one time visit?... Or are we meant to return to the place of death and life time and time again?...What do you think?

If we stay away from the cross for any length of time, we lose so much true clarity, and we lose the ability to forgive. At Calvary alone can I see that there is nothing that can be done to me that cannot be forgiven. At Calvary alone can I gaze upon the One who did everything for me, and even showed me by example how to forgive.

I can say I need to forgive, I can know why I must forgive, but I cannot actually choose forgiveness until I am brought back to the cross. My sin, which crushed Holiness, is the only clear picture I need to allow forgiveness to take place.

Have you ever felt like you could NOT forgive? We’ve all been there, but that is NOT the place we belong. Forgiveness for any person, for any reason is fully possible because of Jesus. The cross is where our hearts belong; there, we are taught anew what we too often forget.

When was the last time you went to the cross? Did you see the look of agony combined with intense love? That is what held Him to the wood; the nails had nothing to do with keeping Him there. Can you see it friends? All of our horrible sin, covered in blood, forever making us clean and acceptable in the sight of His Father. Because of the cross, we are free. Because of the cross we can forgive any wrong done against us, knowing that even the most horrific offense pales in comparison to what our sin cost the Perfect Son of God.

For Today: Are you forgiven? Have you been washed in the blood? If so, remember that we are to forgive others just as He has forgiven us. You and I didn’t deserve forgiveness, and chances are the person who has hurt you doesn’t deserve it either. But that isn’t the criteria for forgiveness. It is about grace and mercy….. and following the way of the Savior.

Colossians 2:13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, has he made alive together with him, having forgiven all your trespasses.

Praise God for the Wonderful Beautiful Cross.
