11: Even a child is known by his doing, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right.

We are known by our fruit. Good or bad; our fruit represents what or who we are living for.

12: The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the LORD has made even both of them.

God Himself formed our eyes and our ears; He not only gave them to us, but at the magnificent creation He has surrounded us with; to hear the voices of those we love and the laughter of a carefree child. All that He made for us however is really meant for Him. Our eyes are meant to see the needs of others everywhere we look, not to see merely the image that the mirror reflects. Our ears are meant to listen and learn so that we may follow what He has shown us to be right, not to tune out the cries of the lost and hopeless. What would happen if each day we reminded ourselves that our eyes and ears are the Maker’s? They may be on the body that He has given us, but they, like everything else, is HIS. Would we guard our eyes so much more diligently? Would we listen so much more intently? I believe we would.

24: Man’s steps are of the LORD; how can a man then understand his own way?

We are dependent upon God for far more than we often acknowledge. We need Him for each breath we take, for every thought we process, and for every step we take. All we do depends upon His control, and since we can’t do anything apart from Him….. We can’t even begin to understand our own ways. We may think we know what is good for us, but do we really?

For Today: Friends, our Precious Father is so good. He has given to us all of what makes us who we are; however he remains Sovereign over all of life and creation. Nothing is ours apart from Him. We can choose to ignore and reject Him and we can bear the fruit of our sin nature. Or we can live a sanctified life and bear the fruit of holiness that comes from the power of the Spirit living within. In either case, He remains in full control at all times. And one day when our time on earth is done, every one of us shall give account of himself to God. (Romans 14:12). We will give an account…. of how we used our eyes, our ears, our tongue, our hands, and our feet…and if we acknowledged that they really truly were His.
