Today, we’ll look at 3 verses that provide us with vivid imagery. They are far more than statements; they are meant to bring to our minds a real life experience that is on our level. We can understand what they mean, and if we want to, we can learn from the ‘picture’ they paint. Look with your eyes, and with the eyes of your heart. Ready?

1: Better is a dry morsel with quietness, than a house full of feasting with strife.

Strife is bitter conflict and the absence of harmony. Less is far more with harmony than more is without it. Isn’t that true….

12: Let a man meet a bear robbed of her cubs, rather than a fool in his folly.

A momma bear robbed of her cubs will tear you to shreds if you ‘meet’ her……yet….that would be better than meeting a fool in his folly? It appears as if God wants us to understand the dangers of encountering a fool. Fools are less rational in their anger than a wild bear.

14: The beginning of strife is like releasing water; therefore stop contention before a quarrel starts.

Do you know what happens when there is even the smallest break in a damn? An uncontrollable flood is forced through……this is what the ‘beginning’ of strife is likened to….quarrels aren’t harmless…and all of us know that. However what we may not know instead is just how powerful their potential for harm truly is.

For Today: We are offered a view of what sin causes, and the destructive power of living apart from wisdom...we are offered analogies so that we can see what our choices mean…and we are offered a better, higher, and deeper way than what we have if we don’t have the Spirit filled life. How GREAT is our God! That is not a question…….it is never a question.
