January 11 - Proverbs Chapter 11
Today as I post scripture, I will highlight words that go together. Look at them carefully and notice the consistency of the Word of God.
2-4: When pride comes, then comes shame; but with the humble is wisdom. The integrity of the upright will guide them, but the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy them. Riches do not profit in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.
16: A gracious woman retains honor, but ruthless men retain riches.
17: The merciful man does good for his own soul, but he who is cruel troubles his own flesh.
18-20: The wicked man does deceptive work, but he who sows righteousness will have a sure reward. As righteousness leads to life, so he who pursues evil pursues it to hisown death. Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the LORD, but the blameless in their ways are His delight.
There is so much more of this throughout the scriptures. The scriptures also contain what does not go together. This is the consistency of the Word of God as well.
22. As a ring of gold in a swine’s snout, so is a beautiful woman who lacks discretion.
24. There is one who scatters, yet increases more; and there is one who withholds more than is right, but it leads to poverty.
For Today: He who trusts in his riches shall fall, but the righteous shall flourish like foliage. He who troubles his own house shall inherit the wind, and the fool shall be servant to the wise of heart. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, and he that wins souls is wise. Behold, the righteous shall be recompensed on the earth, how much more the wicked and the sinner. V: 28-31
Friends there are sure things in the Word of God; truths that are non-negotiable, and principles that are eternal. There has never nor will there ever be good that will come to the wicked, and there has never nor will there ever be good withheld from the righteous. That is a solid truth that should bring us great joy today, but one that should also motivate us to reach the lost today.
