In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth…..Genesis 1:1

Man has devoted much time, money, and ‘thought’ into trying to figure out how our world was formed. Look at the 10 words above. They state the answer plainly and clearly. The verse tells us Who created, what He created, and when He created. And it also tells us the very first characteristic that God wants us to know about Himself. He is the Creator.

The verses go on to show us that the Creator is a God of order. I know each of you can read this for yourself and many of you probably know it well already, but this is what the Bible says about the ORDER of creation. Don’t skim over this because you’ve read it or heard it all before. It is amazing and we need to see it as such.

Day 1: (I love this): v3: And God said, Let there be light; and there was light. He spoke and it happened, nothing more than that was involved.  **He made dark and light and He called it night and day.

Day 2: God made the water and the air; the ‘atmosphere’.

Day 3: God made the dry land and the sea: plants, flowers, grass, and trees as well

Day 4: God made the stars, and the moon, and the sun; and the seasons

Day 5: God made the birds and fish and everything that lives in the sea.

Day 6: God made animals to fill the land; then God formed man with His hand; in His own image.

Day 7: God rested.

It was only about a year or so ago that I learned that God SPOKE all of creations into existence, but His personal touch only came when He formed man. He did not speak man into being, although He most certainly could have. Even in the very beginning, God’s tender love for us was evident.

Did you know that even scientists who don’t believe in the Bible agree that the order of creation told to us in the Bible is an accurate description of how things could have happened? Now not only was this order exactly how it happened, but God Himself told us how He did it! The following is taken from a 2nd/3rd grade science curriculum that I recently looked at. It says the following: “If the author of Genesis had wildly guessed about how God created the universe, the chance of his guessing this particular order is only one in about three and one half million (or the odds of randomly drawing ten numbers in correct numerical sequence; 1: 3,628,000). When I read this, the wheels of my mind kept turning: ‘But how would any man know that ‘that’ order chosen was the correct order? Man wasn’t there; only God was there!’

For Today: Right from the start God displayed a unique love for us. He personally formed Adam and Eve, and He personally formed YOU and me. May we never neglect to be amazed by that truth.

God is a God of order. God is the Creator and Sustainer of life. And He didn’t keep that a secret! He knew we’d want to know about the world and our beginnings, so He told us. He is so good! Nothing has ever come out of nothing. It has always amazed me that relatively ‘intelligent’ people can believe that a “big bang” started an orderly and precise world.  Something had to start the universe, and we know that Someone most certainly did! Friends, we even know His name ! How absolutely incredible that God would share any of what He did, when He did, or how He did….with us.

Will you take a few minutes now and spend it praising the God of Creation? Will you thank Him for the miraculous gift of life; for towering Oak trees, and beautiful daisies, and majestic Eagles, and roaring oceans, and pink and orange sunsets? Will you praise Him for how intricate and perfect His design is? And will you ask Him to never let your knowledge of creation or of Him as Creator become merely factual, but that it would inspire in you a deep and profound sense of AWE…and JOY...always.

PRAISE, HONOR, and GLORY to the LORD GOD ALMIGHTY; THE MAKER OF HEAVEN AND EARTH.
