I graduated college despite the subjects of Chemistry and Physics. It was agony for me to get through these courses because this type of information just didn’t register in my brain. I am very analytical in many respects, but if just a bunch of irrelevant facts are thrown at me, I can’t make sense of them. I got D’s in both these subjects (barely!), but A’s and B’s in the other sciences where I could plainly understand how the information applied to ‘real life’.

If I hadn’t shared with you the history above, the following might impress you. Are you ready...Gravity = 9.8 m/s squared.  I didn’t even have to look that up! I’ll probably remember it until the day I die, although why I’m not sure. It is a fact, but completely useless to me nonetheless. I remember once my Physics teacher told the class we could use our calculators, text books, and any notes we had on this one particular test. You know what? I still failed the test! All the information in the entire world in front of me could not help me USE the information the way I needed to.

Gravity affects all of us, all of the time, and all of us know that. Without it, we would not be able to stay on the ground, but would float throughout the atmosphere. This obviously was not God’s design for His creation, so the presence of gravity is a force He established. I don’t understand any of the complexities and mathematics of it all, but I know why it works and I know what it does. It works because God made it to work. It keeps my feet on solid ground, it doesn’t allow me to jump too high, it causes things to fall back down when I throw them up, and it can’t be altered by man. And:

Though gravity will most assuredly keep me DOWN, my God will always keep me UP.

Do you know where I’m going with this one? I thought I was going somewhere totally different, but praise God He has answered my prayer and directed me to His message. Answer if you will the following questions for yourself:

1) Do you have to completely understand something in order for it to affect your life?

2) If all the information is laid out before you, does it mean that you’ll be able to figure it all out the way you want to?

3) Are you still required to do your absolute best based on what you do know and understand?

I hope you came up with NO, NO, YES. Now let’s apply this to God’s Word, Ways, and Wisdom. Answer if you will these questions:

  1. How has God affected your life? How has the presence of His Holy Spirit changed who you once were OR how has the rejection of His ways/absence of new life affect the choices you continually make?
  2. With His complete, thorough, perfect and eternal Word in hand, are there still many things you can’t figure out the way you’d like to?
  3. What do you know about God now? How can you use and apply what you know about Him? What will you do to learn more and more?

For Today: Friends, there are many things in life we don’t understand and never will. God never intended for us to understand all things nor did He intend for us to obey only if we could understand. Regardless of my understanding of Chemistry and Physics, ALL THE LAWS of gravity, force, motion, etc are currently at work: this is a scientific FACT .These physical laws have been set in motion by God since the creation of the world. They will not change until the rapture when His children will defy all laws of gravity and meet Jesus in the air. Praise God, He works and moves, and sustains and provides without our full understanding.

You know how I didn’t impress you with my memorized formula above? Well even though I don’t understand how it could be, I’ll share with you something else I have memorized and KNOW. But this ‘something’ is as far from useless as the east is from the west. It is this: For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16.    I’m most confident I’ll remember that amazing truth until the day I die.

Isaiah 55: 8-11 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that I may give seed to the sower and bread to the eater; so shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth; it shall not return unto me void but it shall accomplish that which I please and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
